When Believing is Seeing – Perfect Timing!

I am often times asked how my husband and children respond to the work that I do.  Well, my children have gotten used to me interacting with my invisible friends, but my husband still likes to challenge the unfamiliar; it’s his nature.  It’s not that he does not believe in the work I do, he just does not understand it (and, sometimes it’s a mystery to me too!).  His mind is very analytical, he likes tangible evidence and our summer holidays have been bringing this to him, one magnificent experience and validation at a time.

Every summer we pack up our worldly belongings to vacation away for a few days up north to a cottage.  Seriously, we pack enough to stay for a few months and have everything with us, for a “just in case” moment.  Part of the fun of being up north is that we have lots of time for fishing, even if we usually forget the fishing rods in the driveway at home (we have acquired a good size collection of fishing gear over the years – nothing like having to go and re-purchase what you left behind).

When we are out fishing, I usually get a sense that my father-in-law, who re-emerged into pure positive energy a few years ago, is present.  I can just feel that he’s nearby; he loved the area so much.  So, the first year that I felt his energy when we were out in the boat fishing, I said to my husband “Your Dad’s here”.  My husband said “I don’t see him” and I said, “Just wait, you’ll feel him”.  And sure enough, our boat that was sitting in near glass-like calm water began to rock but we were all sitting down not moving about.  That kind of got my husband’s attention.

The following year, we were out fishing again, and I said, “Your Dad’s going to be here soon” and my husband said, “Well, the water’s choppy already, so there’s no rocking the boat this time”.  Just then, a beautiful mallard duck came swimming up to our boat; there were no other ducks around and this duck just looked at us and stayed close to our boat for quite a while before diving under the water not to be seen again.  My husband said, “Well, you know, my Dad did like to hunt ducks”.

The year after that, we were out doing our usual fishing tour, and it was our last day before packing up and heading home.  My husband commented that I hadn’t yet mentioned anything about his father and just then I strongly felt the words, “Wait, the timing will be perfect”.  I repeated what I had just been given and of course I got the “you’re crazy look” which I am used to.  All of a sudden, my husband caught a fish, a really big fish, a “get the fishin’-fishin’-net, this is a fishin’-big fishin’-fish” moment!  There was lots of excitement and like some great fishing moments, the fish got off the hook.  Oh, I felt so badly for him and he said to me “So, was that it? Was that the perfect timing” and I felt his father say “not yet”, so I repeated this, to again receive the “look”.

Just then, out of nowhere, a magnificent osprey appeared, swooped down in the exact spot where the fish had just come off the hook, scooped up the fish and then proceeded to come directly towards our boat.  If that wasn’t enough, the osprey actually flew in what seemed like slow motion, in a big wide circle all around our boat, showing off the beautiful fish that it had caught!  The look on my husband’s face was indescribable – talk about perfect timing.

When we returned home, I researched the spiritual meaning of ospreys and found that osprey teaches us precise timing and how to hone our senses, on both a physical and spiritual level.  They carry the symbolisms of power and vision and according to mythology are associated with Mercurius, the messenger of heaven and the god of communication.

When the timing is perfect, and we listen to the unspoken word, see the hidden world with our inner sight, and most of all feel with our heart, the indescribable becomes describable and experienced with all our physical senses.

Well, needless to say, my husband is looking forward to another fishing excursion and another “your Dad is here” moment where believing is truly seeing!

Leaving you with peace, love, understanding, awareness and wisdom (and of course, big hugs and butterfly kisses).
