The Tapestry

I was browsing through an antique store over the weekend and I was drawn to admiring many different hand sewn tapestries that were framed and hung on the wall.  As I was enjoying the moments of appreciating how much work went into them, my guides began to explain to me that our physical lives are very much like a tapestry.  We are the weavers, we are the thread that threads the needle, and we are the co-creators that choose the colours, the contrast and the designs.

Our uniquely designed tapestry is our metaphor for our intention to remembering that our life is a gift of creation and we are the co-creators.  When we originally brought our essence into our physical form we naturally knew that loving ourselves first was and is the most important understanding.

So, you’ve spent a lifetime learning how to un-love yourself and now you are awakening and beginning to re-learn to love yourself first.  In this process you are also discovering that you are worthy and deserving of loving yourself first (newborn babies know this).  You were born into this realm with everything that you needed to navigate your life experience with self-love, but this was programmed and conditioned out of you from the moment you were born.

Most likely you were never taught to love yourself, you were taught to love others.  As a common example, you were most likely taught to just keep giving and to just keep going even if you were on empty and had nothing left to give.  This was coding or programming that was taught to you by others who were also programmed to love others first and to leave themselves completely ignored.  If you dared to say “enough”, you were re-coded with the world “selfish” which is nothing more than a negative affirmation from outside of yourself to love others first and to continue to sacrifice any love for yourself.

At some point, usually out of total exhaustion and often times during a moment (or several) of breaking down, you looked to receive love from outside of yourself and there was no one available to give love to you.  This was planned, yes, an inside job so to speak, so that you would become aware of yourself and the need for you to love yourself first.

This is where the conscious journey begins by threading your needle with a magnificent thread that allows you to find your joy and your self-love.  The effect of this conscious awareness results in you becoming fulfilled and self-actualized.  The consequence then unfolds so that the love that comes from you is now unconditional because you don’t require anything from anyone!!

I was coded and programmed by others who were also trying to experience being loved outside of themselves first, rather than inside, so it was akin to the blind leading the blind.  They had not activated the process of their own self-love, their own awakening and awareness.

There was a time in my life that I was a people pleaser and I did everything that I thought possible to be accepted and possibly loved by others.  I went along to get along and any time that I spoke up, I felt shut down – so I acquiesced, but definitely not for long. I used to believe that if I received the approval of others, pleased and loved others and did what they wanted to do that I would be loved – I never even considered if I even loved myself.

I had to open my heart and begin loving myself first, and then other people began to truly love me, the more I loved myself.  They respected me and valued me, the more I valued and respected myself. Once this process was activated within me there was no going back to not loving myself first!

As I began to consciously create my own tapestry I discovered that there are no upper limits to self-love and the more I love myself first the more I experience it outside of myself.  The universe began responding to my heart’s desires in the most magnificent of ways.

Many people that were a part of your tapestry may no longer be present as you engage in greater self-love; they simply fade from being within your awareness.  This releasing of old “threads” is intentional and an opportunity to send them thoughts of gratitude as they served a valuable purpose in co-creating the contrasting and glimmering threads of your life tapestry!

Teach your children and those around you how to weave their tapestry. Celebrate yourself first and then every one else’s unique tapestry and encourage them to thread the needle with joy, passion, self-acceptance and self-Love!

Happily weaving and leaving you with big hugs filled with Love!

“Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” – Serendipity The Movie

“As I look back at the entire tapestry of my life, I can see from the perspective of the present moment that every aspect of my life was necessary and perfect.  Each step eventually led to a higher place, even though these steps often felt like obstacles or painful experiences.”  – Wayne Dyer
