My Journey of Prayers

When I was a little girl, I was taught to say my prayers every night before I went to bed. I didn’t understand what prayer was all about back then. And truthfully, it took me decades to get it together on the prayer side of life. The idea that prayer could involve surrendering my desires and embracing Source’s knowledge and infinite intelligence was beyond my scope of understanding. In my little girl mind, I thought that I was in charge of so much! As my journey would continue I would slowly discover that I was only in control of my thoughts and feelings, no thing else and no one else …

My prayers used to go along the lines of: “Dear God, please look after Mom, Dad, my Sister and my hamster”. I thought that if I said a prayer that it was some kind of a blanket declaration that everyone would still be there in the morning when I woke up. So far so good except for the hamster.

As time went on, my prayers shifted to: “Dear God, please help me, I promise I’ll never do this again.” Well, you can let your imagination fill in the details on this prayer, and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in this one.

Then my prayers started to shift again: “Dear God, I get that you’ve got a sense of humour, but I’ve pretty much had enough of that, so could you please give me something else now?” That prayer always got answered in a cosmic kind of way …

As my life continued, I opened up to understanding that prayers were not to be a list of my requests or appeals, rather, I began to appreciate that God – Source Energy already knew what I needed and would always provide what would be for my highest good. It was also around this time that I was shown “God only gives us three answers, Yes, Not yet, or No because I love you too much.” That became a game changer!

Later on, I became aware of the concept of gratitude and my prayers shifted again: “Dear God, thank you for keeping my children and family safe, for bringing me courage when I didn’t think I had any left, for the energy to keep on going, for the wisdom of trusting in myself when I had so much doubt and for helping me to wear the face of grace when my life was falling apart while you put it together again.”

Then my prayers changed to: “Thank you for bringing into my path what I needed to learn (even if it wasn’t what I had in mind), for teaching me to accept myself and others, for showing me that everything does work out, for trusting that what is to come will come and what is to go will go and for bringing the Beings into my life that have played such a powerful role in my personal evolution and soul growth.”

Today I meditate; I surrender whatever is happening in my life, and I embrace the higher will of Source Energy. This brings me a level of composure, serenity, inner knowing, and stillness that I am deeply grateful for.

Stillness is powerful; especially as I now recognize on an energetic level that we are experiencing new ways of being that are not yet reflected in the paradigms of our outer world. Withdraw and get into stillness, it speaks to you.

I am deeply grateful for my journey of awakening as I observe how I have grown from prayer through to meditation, non-stop activity to stillness, appeals to surrendering, and ultimately receiving inner soul guidance. Individually and collectively we are beginning new ways of living; allow your heart to guide you.

Leaving you in stillness and a journey of big Love!
