The basis of our life is freedom, we are free, we are freedom, and I have reached the signpost that used to be seen everywhere called “Freedom 55”.

A month ago, I turned fifty-five years of “sage” and apparently I now qualify for discounts and free stuff.

My first day of “Freedom 55” started out like any Saturday does – up early, emptying the dishwasher, getting a load of laundry out of the dryer and heading off to my early morning yoga class. I was happily driving along when I came to a stoplight and decided to switch my satellite radio station over to the “60’s channel”, after all, it was a pretty good year.

I turned up the volume and the song “Birthday” by the Beatles came on. Oh yes, I was instantly transported back in time and was quite happily rockin’ out. I was so joy-filled that I opened my car windows so that the whole world (okay maybe not the whole world, just the immediate area) could hear the fun I was having.

I realized I was just so happy that I’d made it to fifty-five. I know that I’ve kept my guides fairly occupied over the years, and in retrospect, that is probably an understatement. Just as I was rockin’ out and celebrating the moment, I looked to my left and then to my right and proceeded through the intersection. At about half way through the intersection, I looked up to see that the light was still RED!!!

There was a driver waiting patiently in the oncoming lane that I noticed was staring at me, so I did what anyone would do who stops for a red light, opens their car windows, blares out the tunes and then casually goes right on through – I flashed him the peace sign. This was definitely a “Go Me” moment!

Yup, I laughed out loud all the way up the road imagining what the next fifty-five years will bring.

When I got back home, I was still giggling about the experience and shared it with my 17-year-old son, and he said “Mom, there are gated communities for people like you.” I think my guides are going to be fairly occupied for the next fifty-five years…

Leaving you with freedom, joy and laughter!
