My day started off in a normal kind of way, whatever normal is nowadays as I like to refer to normal as the button on the dishwasher. I looked out my window and noticed a beautiful hawk showing himself as he gracefully floated on the invisible currents of energy. This hawk seemed to be hovering over a particular area just down the street, and I surmised he must have been eyeing a potential meal.
About an hour later, I was out running some errands, and I kept on seeing more hawks flying around. I know that hawks are powerful messengers and are indicative that something is imminently going to be on the horizon. They are also reminders to be aware and ready to see situations with clarity and focus.
On my way back home, I saw three more hawks. My guides shared with me that something was going to unfold that was going to require me taking the lead when the time was right and that I would need to stay focused. Well, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what all the fuss was going to be about!
In all honesty, as the day went on, I completely forgot about seeing the hawks. I was busy with some gardening, laundry and the usual day-to-day stuff that needs doing.
I was getting ready to head out to my evening yoga class and at the last moment, I remembered to throw a t-shirt on over my yoga clothes. I reached into my closet and grabbed the first one my hand touched and put it on. It wasn’t until I looked in the mirror on my way out the door that I realized that the t-shirt I had on, had a hawk with its wings spread out in flight stenciled across the front of it. I smiled to myself and thought, “Oh well…”
When I stepped outside to get into my car I heard the sound of a hawk calling, and I almost dropped my yoga bag thinking “what is going on here?” I no sooner thought those words when I noticed two teenagers standing a little ways down the street and they were looking at what I would find out was their friend who had collapsed at the edge of the road.
Needless to say, I was there on the winged energies of a hawk asking if everything was okay, what was going on, and how did their friend end up on the ground.
Their answers were vague, but the stench was obvious as to what had taken place at some point earlier in the day, so I said in a voice that didn’t sound anything like me, “Nothing is okay here, and I’m calling for backup help”. They looked stunned, and I proceeded to call in for physical backup as well as non-physical. I asked them what their friend’s name was, and they said “Avian” and then they started to walk away – clearly, they were abandoning Avian.
I got down on my knees, turned Avian onto his side, held his head in my lap and said to him, “Avian, you are okay and you are safe, you are very much loved and wanted, stay with me on this, choose life, you are okay, help is coming now, we are here to help you, you are fine and all is well.” I kept on repeating this like a prayer-mantra as I gently rubbed his head and lifted his arms out from underneath of him. I could see a mist around Avian and I intuitively knew that he was in the process of releasing himself out of his body, breath by breath, and all I could do was to encourage him to stay; his journey in the earth realm wasn’t finished yet!
In what seemed like a blink, the paramedics had arrived and took him into their care. When I looked around, I saw that a few people had gathered nearby of which one was a young mother with her two little boys who had red hats on with hawk feathers sticking out of them. Wow, this day was just getting surreal with hawk medicine! A man standing by with his little white puppy asked me “Are you a nurse or something because you looked after that boy like he was your very own patient” I just smiled and said, “Someday he will have a wonderful story to share.”
I dedicated my yoga practice that night to Avian and his family; that they each find peace, understanding and healing through this experience. I also sent out a pulse of compassion for his friends that left him and that they too find a level of awareness through their behaviour. And most of all, I sent out gratitude to the universe, the hawks and my guides for helping me to pay attention to the signs throughout the day, and making sure that I was in place to be of service to another in their journey.
When I got back home later in the evening, I looked up the name Avian as I had never heard of anyone having that name, and this is what was given for it… Avian = Bird Like. Seriously, when hawk shows itself, it means business!
