The other day, I came across this question “If you could travel back in time, and give advice to your former self, what would it be?” I started to jot down a few notes on a post-it note, which turned into a notebook page that has now turned into this blog.

Here is my advice to me list:

Things will change, regardless of how important and permanent you think something is, it will change. Don’t give up, just let go.

Don’t bother trying to fit in, it never happens, and you’re not supposed to anyways.

Be easy about everything that you experience, because that is all it will be, an experience.  From the experience you will learn and the learning will be a lesson to guide you into another experience.

Don’t take it personally when someone gets in your face and in your space.  They need you, they need your energy, and they want your Love.

You are good enough, yes, you are.

Accept what you can, and, accept that there may be something or someone that you can’t accept, but either way, accept it.

Do what feels good in your heart, not necessarily what you think you should do.

Don’t compare; sometimes things are supposed to be left undone, so they can be done later either by you, or, someone else looking for that exact missing “peace”.

Amuse yourself and laugh out loud at least a couple of times a day!

You’re not in charge of anyone else’s journey; live your very best and let others live their best too.

Love, Love a lot, and especially Love your children because you are their teacher; they will teach you even more.

Love your parents and siblings; they’re your earth family and karmic soul mates.  You don’t have to like them all the time, and they probably won’t like you all the time either, but be okay with it all.  They will grow and move on, just like you.

Do all that you can to help another person in their journey; a loving thought, a warm look, a compassionate touch, a gentle smile, or an understanding nod of your head.

Get quiet and listen to your inner voice, it talks to you and you will be guided.  Sometimes you won’t listen and then you’ll know why you could have and should have.

Believe in yourself, you’re worth it and will surprise yourself.  Keep dreaming, it’s where creations of magnificence come from.

When your abundance runs dry, remember to create it the same way you’ve created everything else, with your desire.  Your desire is a manifestation of your imagination, remember to imagine you are imagining.

Watch how others react to your presence, they will mirror back to you your most unseen emotions and energies.

Hold hands, a lot; you’re in this journey together.

Sometimes things will appear scary, and sometimes things will appear all right and either way, reach out to someone.  You never know where they’re at until you make contact and then you’ll be surprised that you’re not alone in your experience.

Don’t give up; the answer will always be no until to you ask the question and never stop questioning, it’s how you discover your truth.  Remember your courage, it’s in you!

Your heart will get broken and it will heal even if you think it won’t, it will, so allow it.  Love yourself first, so you don’t lose yourself in loving someone else.

Share your wisdom; it’s the kind of heart energy that helps others who are ready to learn.  Communicate clearly, avoid drama and be available for your own response-ability.

Remember gentleness, compassion, and speak the truth from your heart.   Learn the art of listening so you can hear through your heart.

You will never be forgotten – someone, somewhere will always be thinking about you, even if it’s 100 years from now, you will still be known.

Make a difference; make your words and actions count.

Look in the mirror; you will see the Love of your life.

Be kind, everyone is on their journey home just like you and if someone gets in front of you, let them be there, it’s urgent for them.  You’d want that same recognition given to you.

Your true gifts will emerge; just give them and yourself time.  The world will be ready for you exactly when you’re ready for the world.

Be patient with learning patience; it ultimately leads to the quietude, grace and peacefulness of serenity.

People will come into your life and leave your life; they’re supposed to.  Welcome them and lovingly say goodbye when they leave.

You will know when you’ve reached your limits, pay attention to them, you can break, but you will never be broken, you will always heal and rebuild.

You will create your own freedom; no one else will do it for you.  Once you recognize your freedom, you will inspire others through your actions to find their own.

Be ok with tears, they’re going to flow and the more you hold them back, the more they build up and the swifter they will fall.

You are more resilient than you can imagine; so stay flexible, it will matter later on.

Slow down, a lot.  There will be so much to soak in and you’ll miss it if you’re busy glorifying busy.  Animals know when to rest, observe them, they teach us to be more natural.

Speak highly of others, only mention their wonderful highlights, you never know who’s listening in.

Be a tourist and see how other earth travellers live; there’s more to your life than your well known paths and peaks and valleys.

Remember your ancestors’ life stories, they knew the wisdom of living with the earth, when to plant gardens in balance with the seasons, how to make a feast when there’s famine, what to do, where to find life, why loving matters and how to share.

Stay present, remember that you experience your past and future in the present moment, so how you remember your past and create your future matters.

People will journey home without you, and some will go without prior notice.  You’ll catch up to them either way, so accept that they are not gone anywhere that you won’t be going eventually.

Remember to breathe; breathing is what keeps you connected to being here.  Breathe deeply and remember you take your first breath in when you arrive here on earth and your last breath out when you leave, so breathing matters, a lot.

You are far more significant than you know; step up to the plate and become all that you came here to be.

Retire from your day-job earlier than you think you need to, and don’t get caught up in the tell-a-vision that sits in the corner or hangs on the wall.  Read, sing, share, paint, play music, listen, call someone, nap, create, and be passionately loving and present in whatever you are doing.

You are more than who you think you are; believe in yourself and encourage others to believe in themselves.  You’re not supposed to be like every one else.

Most of all, listen with your empathic heart, the volume grows louder and sounds like a mater-peace symphony.

Now, take a good look at this list, and ask yourself “If you could travel forward in time, and give advice to your future self, what would it be?”

Leaving you with peace, love, understanding, awareness and wisdom (and of course, big hugs and butterfly kisses).

“Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.”  – Deepak Chopra
